The story dates back to 1811, the first exceptional vintage in the history of wine. According to growers, it was brought about by extraordinary weather conditions. Or did it occur due to the passage of the great comet, called Napoleon’s Comet? If legends merge into history, this special year also marks the creation of the oldest Loire Valley sparkling wine company: Maison Ackerman. Founded by Jean-Baptiste Ackerman, its méthode traditionnelle quickly met with success and radiated outside of France.
The adventure continued in 1886, at the heart of the Valley of the Kings and France’s largest troglodyte site, with the creation of a second house founded by Alcide Monmousseau. In no time the reputation of this house for blending was unequalled.
As a result, 11.86 – an incarnation of refined bubbles – was created from the art of premium sparkling winemaking, associated with age-old expertise. Combining the expertise of two great houses, it is an innovative ambitious brand: exceptional and worthy of the finest restaurants worldwide.
