Jean-Paul Couamais is a traditional brand chiefly dedicated to Vouvray and Touraine wines, bearing witness to the adventure of a grower in love with his region. In 1969 Jean-Paul Couamais took over his parents vines. Profoundly attached to his native land, over a period of 40 years, he increased the surface area of his vineyard by six, acquiring the best parcels with exceptional terroirs next to his estate. As a result, Jean-Paul Couamais boasts 47 hectares of vines, chiefly made up of Chenin, the Loire Valley’s emblematic variety. The entity’s wines are made on the estate, located at the heart of the Vouvray appellation area in Vernou-Sur-Brenne. Passionate and attached to these same traditional values, our cellar master, Ti Jouvin, is committed to constantly fine-tuning the standard of the estate’s wines in view of offering products that can be enjoyed whatever the occasion, marked by fruit and freshness. When it comes to our refined bubbles, this quest for quality is obtained through ageing on fine lees for 24 to 36 months, that is to say a maturing period two times longer than the minimum authorized period, so as to produce wines with rich and complex aromas.

Presentation of our wines
Very lively and expressive wines, the balance of which, halfway between maturity and acidity, is paramount in view of obtaining a true to type Vouvray, reflecting the local terroir. This is a small appellation area, exclusively planted with Chenin. Fortunately when it comes to this estate, we are able to entirely ensure the good health of the vineyard, thereby guaranteeing and highlighting its finest aromatic qualities.
