New vine-growing

“New vine-growing, combining tradition and innovation”

Social responsibility

Orchidées, Maisons de Vin brings together 92 vine-growing partners, 3 co-operative wineries, 1 group of 46 producers, and 305 employees, all passionate about preserving and promoting our terroirs and about creating tomorrow’s wines. Together we are committed to the use of innovative vine-growing practices protecting the living environment within the same territory. Today, we have united our passions and our expertise to nurture the Land of tomorrow.

Societal impact

Orchidées, Maisons de Vin provides consumers with top quality sustainable products, creating shared value for our territory.

Developing, implementing, sharing and promoting tomorrow’s viticulture.

As consumers are increasingly sensitive about the environment and their well-being, we have to market healthy products elaborated according to measures respecting humans and the natural environment. We want to construct a responsible, innovative and bold business model allowing us to preserve the area’s terroir, territory and expertise in response to environmental, social and economic changes; enabling locals to earn a decent living; providing them with rewarding experiences and offering pleasure to consumers, all the while honoring the promise of increasingly “pure” wines.

Environmentally friendly

Orchidées, Maisons de Vin, the leading reference in Loire Valley still and sparkling wines, wants to promote a new form of vine-growing more respectful of consumers, vintners and nature. This commitment is the logical continuity of the sustainable development strategy launched by Ackerman, one of the few Loire Valley wine houses, recognized for having initiated as of 1998, a system of quality management according to ISO standards. All of the vineyards benefit from biocontrol solutions. At present, we have several certifications, from vine-growing through to sales, bearing witness to our commitment to the environment.

Our certifications

Certification provides the following advantages:

  • Greater access to foreign markets
  • Reinforced relations with distributors
  • Increased transparency
  • Stronger consumer trust
  • Reduced in-house risks
  • High Environmental Value certification
It is a voluntary process meeting the expectations of consumers interested in reliable and premium quality products. It is the end result of three levels of qualification focusing on four environmental themes: biodiversity conservation, phytosanitary measures, fertilization management and water resources. All of the vineyards belonging to the group have successfully obtained High Environmental Value certification. We implicate our growing partners in this approach and incite them to adopt the same measures.
  • Organic growing certification
Organic farming involves growing and maturing procedures striving to maintain natural balances. Indeed, it excludes the use of chemical pesticides, GMOs and limits entrants. After a conversion period of three years, Domaine des Hardières has obtained organic growing certification for its 2019 vintage. We are also encouraging our growing partners to follow the same avenue.
  • AEO certification
Authorized Economic Operator certification is an internationally recognized mark of efficient and secure customs clearance. In addition to the services granted in terms of customs processing and safety measures, AEO certification also evaluates and controls the procedures put into place by the company in that area. Its organization is optimized as it takes into account customs and logistics functions, enhanced communication among staff, and the implementation or upgrading of monitoring and internal controls.
  • IFS certification
IFS certification on our Bellevigne-les-Châteaux and  La-Chapelle-Heulin sites guarantees the safety and the quality of food products. It offers commercial and production benefits:
    • Improves a company’s reputation via the quality of its products
    • Confirms that rigorous standards are respected
    • Develops the understanding of procedures
    • Improves the use and distribution of resources
    • Provides the latest information thanks to regulatory monitoring
  • BRC FOOD
With 50% of UK food being private label, it is difficult for a retailer to ensure that the products they sell comply with specifications, legislation and hygiene practices. The BRC's aim is to set a common standard of food safety requirements for manufacturers of private label products in the UK market, standardizing audits.
